Quality assurance from the start
“Thanks to the OCS camera systems, we have been able to increase output in recent years and significantly reduce customer complaints, which not only has an economic advantage but also an ecological advantage due to the low waste.”
Dr Andreas Schnabel, measurement and process developer at
Klöckner Pentaplast Europe GmbH & Co. KG
Klöckner Pentaplast (KP) is a plastics manufacturer that is committed to the sustainable use of materials for everyday use. The experts at KP develop innovative films and trays that offer product safety, help prevent food waste, protect medicines and medical devices and ensure the integrity of countless long-lasting products. The intensive partnership between KP and OCS has been cultivated for mutual benefit for more than 20 years. Around 80 OCS quality measurement systems are used at KP at its two German locations and in Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and the USA.
Integrated integration – a “disadvantage” of the extensive quality control is the large amount of data that is created, regardless of whether it is the countless image data from the camera systems on the calenders and extruders or the matrices of the contamination of the laboratory test equipment. Here, too, OCS has developed a holistic software concept, where data are not only recorded and archived, but also parallel created. This allows the implementation of process and material data as well as an extended data analysis and SPC representation (Statistical Process Control) to be implemented. In this way, the process-accompanying quality data can also be used on subsequent machines in the production process and the quality of the film products can be monitored and improved. All measurement data can also be compared with each other worldwide.
